DETERMINED THE PREVALENCE OF DEPRESSION - ANXIETY - STRESS AMONG MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HUNG YEN PROVINCE

Abstract

Purpose: This study determined the prevalence of depression - anxiety – stress  among middle school students in Hung Yen province. Subjects and study design: A cross-sectional study was conductedin Song Mai and Duc Hop secondary schools in Hung Yen province. Totally, 639 studentswere recruited in the study. The Depression - Anxiety - Stress Scales (DASS 42) was used to obtain information. Results: The prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress were 17.7%,35.4%, and 20.3% respectively. The prevalence of students having at lease of them was 42.2%. There were 20.8% students suffering from 1 disorder, 11.7% from 2 disorders and 9.7% from 3 disorders.The prevalence of depression and stress was highest in grade 9th. Conclusion: Depression –Anxiety- Stress are common adolescent psychiatric disorders in school settings.
