Abstract

Objective: Evaluate knowledge, attitude and routine practice of hand washing of nurses in clinical departments of Thai Binh Children's Hospital in 2020. Method: The study subjects are 174 nurses working in clinical departments; Design a descriptive cross-sectional study, interview nurses to assess knowledge and observe to evaluate nurses' routine hand washing practices. Results: The percentage of nurses with general knowledge of routine hand washing is 87.4%. The rate of nurses who correctly answered the question about the sequence of steps of the routine hand washing process is 87.9%. The percentage of nurses with a positive general attitude about routine hand washing accounts for 88.5%. The rate of nurses with general practice of washing hands is 92.0%. The majority of nurses who practice 6 steps of the routine hand washing process account for the highest percentage at the correct level of 75% (ranging from 76.4% to 80.5%), level of not doing accounts for the lowest percentage (ranging from 0.6% to 1.2%). Conclusions: The proportion of nurses with common knowledge, practice and positive attitude about routine hand washing is quite high. However, there are still a small number of nurses whose knowledge, practice, and attitude are not yet positive that need to be improved to further improve.
