CLINICAL, PARACLINICAL AND CAUSES OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA IN CHILDREN UNDER 12 MONTH OLD IN THAI BINH PEADIATRIC HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To describe clinical, paraclinical and causes of iron defficiency anemia in Thai Binh
Pediatric Hospital.
Subject and Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study, 88 patients with Iron deficiency anemia
from Jannuary to September 2020 in Thai Binh Peadiatric Hospital.
Results: Patients with iron deficiency anemia were 48,4%. Male was 67% and female was 33%.
Ratio male /female= 2 /1. Patients 6 - 12 months old was the most common (56%), patients 0 - 5
months old was the least common. Premature infants accounted was 30,7%. The patients with weigh
at birth less than 2500g was 18,2%. The patients with severe anemia was 14,7%. Causes of Iron
deficiency anemia were mainly in group 1( eat a diet that is low in Iron) was 33,4%.
Conclusion: Iron deficiency anemia in chidren less than 12 months old was hight and Common
causes include not getting enough iron in their diet.
