ACTUAL SITUATION OF ALCOHOL/BEER USE AMONG STUDENTS OF HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY DURING THE QUARANTINE PERIOD DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract
Objectives: Describe the current situation of alcohol/beer use by students of Hanoi Medical University
during the period of social distancing due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021.
Research subject and method: Cross-sectional descriptive study, using kobotoolbox software to
collect and analyze data through Stata 16.
Result: For students of Hanoi Medical University, the percentage of currently drinking alcohol/
beer in men is 33.78% and for females is 7.79%. According to the AUDIT scale, the level of risk in
men is 10.8% and in women, this rate is 3.9%. In terms of the logistic regression model, students of
Traditional Medicine (OR=5.11; 95%CI=1.49-17.51) and Advanced Practice Nursing (OR=27.80;
95%CI=1),81-426,25) have a higher risk of 5.11 and 27.8 times compared to General Medicine
students.
Conclusion: For male students, the frequency of alcohol use is monthly or less, while the majority of
female students have never drunk. When assessing the level of risk, the majority of medical students
are at low levels and few at harmful levels. In addition, women have a lower risk of alcohol/beer use
than men. In terms of majors, students majoring in Traditional Medicine and Nursing have a higher
level of alcohol/beer use than General Medicine students.
