Abstract

massage at the Department of On-Demand Treatment, Quang Ngai province’s Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in 2023 and propose some solutions to improve knowledge and practice of mothers after cesarean section on breast massage.


Research methods: The cross-sectional description on 136 mothers, using the tool to assess about knowledge and postpartum breast massage methods.


Results: Mothers under 30 years old accounted for 61.8%, mothers with the first-time births had the highest rate at 63.2%; 77.9% mothers received massage from 24-48 hours after giving birth; 63.2% mothers had breast massage once time. Source of information about the benefits of breast massage from medical staff was 36.8%; self-learned was 30.9%. 88.2% mothers knew about prenatal breast massage; 63.2% mothers applied it. The percentage of mothers that milk came quickly was 64.7%; the average percentage of mothers performed the massage process correctly after being instructed was 98.3%.


Conclusion: Mothers’ knowledge was relatively good, the percentage of mothers performed correctly after guidance was high. This illustrates that the role of health workers is very important. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the role of health workers and the media.
