36. ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH SUDDEN HEARING LOSS AT HUU NGHI VIET TIEP HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the situation of anxiety and depression among the elderly patients with sudden hearing loss at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in 2024 and to analyze related factors.
Research methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 101 elderly patients with sudden hearing loss at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital from August to December 2024. Assessment of anxiety levels in the elderly based on the Zung scale. Depression was assessed using the DASS-21 scale.
Results: The prevalence of mild anxiety and depression were 12.9%, and 26.7%, respectively. Tinnitus was associated with anxiety in elderly patients with sudden hearing loss (p < 0.05). Marital status was associated with depression in patients with sudden hearing loss (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: The level of anxiety and depression in elderly patients with sudden hearing loss is high. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen support measures to improve quality of life and reduce anxiety after sudden hearing loss.
