Abstract

Objective: To describe the current level of knowledge among healthcare professionals regarding the identification of potential brain-dead donors, brain death diagnosis, and organ resuscitation at Military Hospital 175 in 2025.

Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 128 healthcare professionals working in the intensive care and emergency departments at Military Hospital 175. The study utilized a questionnaire developed based on both domestic and international literature on brain death, organ donation from brain-dead individuals, and organ resuscitation for potential donors. The questionnaire consisted of 22 knowledge-based questions.

Results: A total of 46.9% of healthcare professionals demonstrated good knowledge. Among them, 63.3% had sufficient knowledge of identifying potential brain-dead donors and diagnosing brain death, while 28.9% had adequate knowledge of organ resuscitation for potential brain-dead donors. A significant correlation was found between professional title and the level of knowledge among healthcare professionals (p < 0.05).

Conclusion: The proportion of healthcare professionals with sufficient knowledge of identifying potential brain-dead donors, diagnosing brain death, and resuscitating donated organs remains low. There is a significant correlation between professional title and healthcare professionals' knowledge
