THE SITUATION AND IMPACTS OF JOB STRESS ON NURSING CARE IN SPECIALIZED HOSPITALS CAN THO CITY

Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on 163 nurses at 6 specialized hospitals in Can Tho from 9/2020 to 8/2021. Objectives: (1). Describe the current situation of work stress to nurses taking care of patients at specialized hospitals in Can Tho city (2). Learn some factors related to work stress of nursing care in hospitals. Research results: Nursing under high pressure accounted for the highest proportion from work environment stress (6.7%); Stress from relationships (8%); Stress from patients/relatives (76.6%); Stress from workload accounted for 15.3%. The age group accounted for the highest proportion from 18-30 years old (45.4%); 31-45 years old (41.7%) and the lowest rate belongs to the age group of 46-60 years old (12.9%). Married (57.1%); Not married (37.4%); Divorced/separated/widowed (5.5%). Nursing with less than 5 years of working experience accounts for 35%; 5-10 years accounted for 28.8%; >10-20 years accounted for 26.4%; Average working time (9.9 ± 8.11). Nursing workplace: Inpatient department (77.3%); Emergency department (22.7%). Intermediate qualification (49.1); College (30,1); University (20,8). Research shows that there is a relationship between age group, between marital status, between faculty and place of work, between professional qualifications, between seniority; between sleep quality and work stress (p<0.05).
