38. EVALUATING OF THE SAFETY OF ELECTROACUPUNCTURE IN TREATING POSTPARTUM URINARY RETENTION

Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the safety of electroacupuncture in the treatment of postpartum urinary retention, determine whether electroacupuncture can become a safe method in the treatment of postpartum urinary retention, and reduce the risk of complications. compared to traditional treatment methods.
Subjects and methods: A prospective clinical trial study was conducted on an electroacupuncture treatment group of 76 postpartum women.
Results: After electroacupuncture, pregnant women’s residual urine volume decreased by 53.2%, the difference from before treatment was statistically significant (p < 0.05); the rate of pregnant women recovering is 85.5%, the rate of not recovering is only 14.5%; good and fair recovery efficiency accounts for 84.2%, average accounts for 15.8%. During and after electroacupuncture, no cases of discomfort were recorded; there are no adverse effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, sweating, fainting, infection, or bleeding.
Conclusions: Electroacupuncture to treat postpartum urinary retention is an easy method to perform, does not cause adverse effects, helps reduce complications due to catheterization, reduces treatment time, and can be applied in postpartum departments to Supports treatment of postpartum urinary retention.
