Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the results of the treatment of closed fractures of the femoral intertrochanter by a locking plate with C-arm at Duc Giang General Hospital. Subjects and methods: Non-controlled retrospective and prospective cross-sectional descriptive study on 32 patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures undergoing surgery with locking plate at the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics - Duc Giang General Hospital from January 2019 to March 2021. Results: 32/32 patients (100%) all had dry incisions, first skin healing, no patient had wound infection, no complications during hospital treatment time. There were no cases of pneumonia, urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers or postoperative bleeding. The braces and screws were in the required position; The bones were fixed well. Well-aligned, straight bone axis, angle of neck of femus to femoral body from 120o to 130o reached 15/32 patients (46.88%). The fracture was still slightly displaced, there was one cortical deviation, the femoral neck – body angle from 110o to less than 119o was 17/32 patients (53.12%). The mean hospital time of all patients was 14.16 ± 2.89 days. Conclusion: All patients had dry incision condition, skin healing with first stage, no patient had wound infection, no complications during hospital time, no pneumonia, no urinary tract inflammation, no pressure ulcers or bleeding after surgery. The braces and screws were in the required positions; The bones were fixed well. Well-aligned, straight bone axis.
