Main Article Content
Abstract
Research Objective: The study aims to determine the rate of healthcare workers' positive response to patient safety culture survey items at Trung Vuong Hospital using the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) tool, along with identifying some influencing factors in 2023.
Subjects and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was employed, integrating both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative aspect utilized the HSOPSC-VN instrument (2015) and involved surveying 844 healthcare workers. The qualitative component sought to explore various factors impacting patient safety culture among hospital staff.
Results: The overall rate of positive responses to patient safety culture was 78.7%. The highest rate of positive responses was observed in teamwork within departments at 97.2%, while the lowest was in openness regarding error disclosure at 28.7%, followed by incident reporting frequency at 31.6%. Physicians, nurses, and technicians exhibited a higher rate of positive responses to patient safety culture compared to other groups (such as administrative personnel, office staff, security personnel, etc.). Those with a tenure exceeding 5 years at the hospital demonstrated a higher rate of positive responses compared to those with tenures ranging from 6 months to 1 year. Furthermore, individuals who underwent patient safety training showed significantly higher rates of positive responses compared to their counterparts who did not receive such training.
Conclusion: Patient safety culture constitutes a critical aspect in ensuring the quality and safety of patient care. Efforts to enhance patient safety culture should be prioritized, particularly focusing on areas with lower rates of positive responses.
