50. PREVALENCE AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS OF DEPRESSION AMONG FINAL-YEAR LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HANOI

Abstract
Objective: To determine the rate and some factors related to depression in junior high school seniors in Hanoi.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 541 grade 9 junior high school students in Hanoi from December 1, 2023 to May 30, 2024.
Results: A total of 58.4% of students experienced depression at various levels: minimal (26.1%), mild (13.9%), moderate (10.5%), and severe (7.9%). Statistically significant factors associated with depression included gender, academic pressure, physical bullying, cyberbullying, and smartphone addiction (p < 0.01).
Conclusion: 58.4% of final-year lower secondary school students in Hanoi were found to have depression at varying levels. Intervention strategies should focus on addressing academic pressure, physical bullying, cyberbullying, and smartphone addiction among students.
