Kiến thức, thực hành của bà mẹ/người chăm sóc trẻ là yếu tố quyết định trong công tác phòng chống
bệnh Tay – chân – miệng (TCM) cho trẻ dưới 5 tuổi. Nghiên cứu mô tả cắt ngang được sử dụng để
đánh giá thực trạng kiến thức, thực hành phòng chống bệnh TCM ở bà mẹ/người chăm sóc trẻ dưới
5 tuổi xã Tú Nang, huyện Yên Châu, tỉnh Sơn La. Trong tổng số 944 đối tượng nghiên cứu, 73% có
kiến thức đúng về đối tượng nguy cơ mắc bệnh, 84% biết về sự nguy hiểm của bệnh và 81,4% biết về
các biện pháp phòng chống lây lan. Tuy nhiên, chỉ có 30,7% đối tượng có kiến thức đúng về chăm sóc
trẻ mắc bệnh Tay – chân - miệng. Tỷ lệ sử dụng dung dịch sát khuẩn vệ sinh dồ dùng của trẻ thấp, chỉ
chiếm 13,1%. Thực hành đúng về các biện pháp xử trí khi trẻ mắc bệnh và phòng tránh lây nhiễm trong
khoảng 30,9-59,4%. Và hầu hết đối tượng nghiên cứu thực hành tốt vệ sinh môi trường (92,8%).
