EVALUATION OF SLEEP QUALITY AND SOME RELATE FACTORS OF THE ELDERLY IN OUTPATIENTS TREATMENT AT TIEN GIANG CENTRAL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2021

Abstract

Abstract: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 380 patients aged 60 years and older who came to the clinic for examination and outpatient treatment at the following clinics: Endocrinology, Neuroendocrinology, Cardiology, General Internal Medicine at the Outpatient Department of Tien Giang Central General Hospital during the period from March 2021 to May 2021 in order to evaluate the sleep quality of elderly people undergoing outpatient treatment and describe a number of related factors. The survey was conducted by directly interviewing the subjects with a set of prepared questions based on the PSQI scale (Pittisburgh Sleep Quality Index) and DASS-21 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scales). Result: The proportion of elderly people with poor sleep quality is 91.6%. Analysis of multivariable regression model showed that the factor that is really related to the sleep quality of the elderly is the use of stimulants (PR=1.20; 95%CI: 1.05-1.37) ; p=0.009) and anxiety (PR=1.21; 95%CI: 1.11-1.31; p<0.001).
