Objective: Overview of the role of traditional medicine in fertility regulation in women in Vietnam
Method: A scoping review searched for articles published on the data of the Ministry of Science and Technology within 10 years in Vietnam related to the research objectives, according to the criteria PRISMA – ScR standard.
Results: Out of 18 articles found on the database, 7 articles were filtered out that met the selection criteria. The clinical experimental study with comparison before and after (n = 5); Experimental studies on animals (n = 2). The studies mainly used traditional herbal remedies or preparations from traditional herbal remedies (n = 5); and preparations from 1 medicinal herb (n = 2). Studies evaluated the effectiveness of improving menstrual disorders (n = 4), follicle development and ovulation (n = 1), pregnancy ability (n = 1), and regulating sex hormones (n = 1).
Conclusion: Research on traditional medicine in regulating fertility in women in Vietnam over the past 10 years had mainly focused on evaluating the effectiveness of traditional herbal remedies in treating menstrual disorders. There were few in-depth studies on the pharmacological effects of the active ingredients of medicinal herbs, and there was no research on non-drug methods of Traditional Medicine in regulating fertility in women.
