Objectives: Analyze the results of nursing care for children patients with lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) and some related factors at the International Medical Center of Viet nam National Children’s Hospital.
Methods: A prospective descriptive study, a quantitative study combining qualitative and quantitative research on 200 pediatric patients with LRTI from 12th 2022 to 3rd 2023.
Results: Result of nursing care on children with LRTI: good care nurses account for 90.5%, nursing care activities were done properly and sufficiently: measure vital signs 100%, do the doctor’s medical orders 99%, patient monitoring 99%, patients reception 95%, medical records 92%, nutritional care 90.5%, airway cleaning 86.5%, health education 86.5%, psychological care 80%, assist patients with hygiene 80%. Factors related to results of nursing care include: Patient’s age ≥ 1 year old, full - term infants, infants exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months, children receiving good nutritional care, children receiving hygienic care good, pre - hospital treatment time ≤ 3 days, child hospital stay time ≤ 7 days.
Conclusions: Nursing care results related to gestational age, child age, breastfeeding and hygienic care. Therefore special attention should be paid to nursing care for children under 1 year of age, premature babies, and children who are not breastfed with lower respiratory tract infections.
