Abstract

Objective: Analyze some factors related to smoking behavior of students at Le Trung Dinh High School, Quang Ngai city in 2023.

Research method: Cross-sectional descriptive study, implementation on 432 students from Le Trung Dinh High School, Quang Ngai city from October 2022 to June 2023.

Result and conclusion: Students have a high awareness of the harmful effects of tobacco when exposed to advertising. , tobacco promotion (OR=1.66; 95%CI: 1.04-2.65; p<0.032). In the school, there are activities to prevent tobacco harms, helping students to have a high correct perception of 2.91 times (95%CI: 1.44-5.87; p<0.002). Knowing information about the harmful effects of tobacco through various forms (newspapers, radio, social networks, national week on tobacco harm prevention) helps students to have correct awareness 9.44 times (95%CI) : 4.45-1990; p=0.001); The Center for Disease Control’s communication about the harmful effects of tobacco helped students to have correct awareness 1.72 times (95%CI: 1.08-2.74; p=0.0022); Being informed about the Law on Prevention of Tobacco Harms helps students to have a high right perception 2.51 times (95%CI: 1.52-4.18; p=0.001). Some factors related to attitude: Students with correct knowledge about the harmful effects of tobacco have a positive attitude 3.42 times higher (95%CI: 2.06-5.67; p<0.001 ).
