SURVEY OF SOME RELATED FACTORS TO HYPERTENSION IN ADULTS IN KRONG PAK DISTRICT - DAK LAK

Abstract

Background: Controlling the risk factors will reduce the rate and complications of hypertension.
Objective: To investigate some risk factors related to hypertension in adults in Ninh Kieu district,
Can Tho city, in 2022.
Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 1000 adults over
18 years old living in Krông Păk – tỉnh Đắc Lăk district.
Results: The rate of hypertension in former smokers was 1.454 times higher than in those who
had never smoked (OR = 1.454; p<0.05); people who do not have a habit of exercise had a rate of
hypertension 1.618 times higher than those with a habit of exercise (OR = 1.618; p < 0.05); the
rate of hypertension in the group with a history of cardiovascular disease (MI, stroke, heart failure,
atrial fibrillation) was higher than the group without a history of cardiovascular disease (p<0.001).
Conclusion: People with a history of smoking, a sedentary lifestyle, and a history of cardiovascular
disease have a higher risk of developing high blood pressure.
