Objective: Describe the status of overweight and obesity and some related factors of 253 patients with type 2 diabetes at the National Endocrinology Hospital in 2026. Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted from Feburary to June 2026. Results: Of the 253 people with diabetes participating in the study, women accounted for 62.06%; The average age is 70.66 ± 6.32 years old and the majority are married (77.47%). According to WPRO BMI classification (2000), the overweight rate is 27.27%, obesity is 22.93%, bringing the total overweight and obesity rate to 50.20%; while the rate of chronic energy deficiency is only 4.35%. No statistically significant relationship has been recorded between overweight and obesity with gender, age group and education level (p>0.05). Regarding behavioral factors, most eating habits and physical activity are not statistically significantly related to overweight or obesity (p>0.05). However, patients who took more than 30 minutes to eat had 2.88 times higher odds of being overweight or obese compared to the group that ate within 30 minutes or less (OR=2.88; 95% CI: 1.09–7.63; p=0.027). Conclusion: The rate of overweight and obesity in people with diabetes is still high (50.20%). Eating time over 30 minutes is a statistically significant factor associated with this condition.
