Abstract

In clinical practice, the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of sinonasal inverted papilloma have not been fully characterized or systematically described. This study aimed to evaluate the MRI characteristics of this entity. The mean age was 50.36 ± 17.97 years (range: 9–71), with a male predominance (72%). Tumors were located in the nasal cavity in all cases (100%), most commonly extending into the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses (both 40%), while less frequent involvement was observed in the sphenoid (8%) and frontal sinuses (4%). Orbital invasion was noted in one case (4%). On MRI, most lesions demonstrated intermediate signal intensity on T1-weighted images and heterogeneous signal intensity on T2-weighted images. The convoluted cerebriform pattern (CCP) was observed in the majority of cases, and lesions typically showed heterogeneous enhancement after contrast administration. MRI provides detailed information on the morphological characteristics and extent of sinonasal inverted papilloma.
