Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is an endocrine disease and one of the most common metabolic disorders globally. The disease progresses insidiously, affecting multiple organ systems. Timely assessment and management of clinical, paraclinical, and comorbid factors are essential. Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and factors associated with glycemic control status in patients with type 2 diabetes at Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital in 2026.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 217 inpatients with type 2 diabetes at the Department of Endocrinology, Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital, using a convenience sampling method from December 2025 to June 2026. Results: The majority of patients failed to achieve target levels for HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, and random blood glucose. Significant differences in HbA1c control were observed in factors such as smoking status, self-monitoring of blood glucose, adherence to follow-up schedules, and dietary compliance. A relationship was found between glycemic control status and vascular complications. Conclusion: The factors relate with management and treatment are statistically significantly associated with HbA1c levels.
