Objective: Describe some clinical characteristics and subclinical of patients with mid-shaft humeral
fractures who underwent surgery at Vinh City General Hospital.
Subjects and methods: This descriptive study (retrospective and prospective) included 54 patients
with mid-shaft humeral fractures who underwent surgery at Vinh City General Hospital from January
2021 to April 2023.
Results: The mean age was 41.31 ± 14.7, and the most commonly affected age group was 31-40 years
old (27.8%), with a majority of male patients accounting for 72%. The leading cause of fractures
was traffic accidents, accounting for 94.3%. All patients presented with severe pain, swelling at
the fracture site, and restricted shoulder joint movement on the affected side. Associated injuries
were present in 33.3% of cases. According to the AO classification, type C fractures were the most
common, accounting for 44.4% of cases.
Conclusion: Patients with mid-shaft humeral fractures are typically young and often sustain injuries
traffic accidents, fractures are commonly encountered.
