Objectives: (1) To assess hand function impairment in stroke patients at the Rehabilitation Center of Bach Mai Hospital in 2025; (2) To evaluate the impact of hand function impairment on the activities of daily living of these patients.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at the Rehabilitation Center of Bach Mai Hospital.
Results: Stroke patients experience impaired hand function. Notably, nearly half of the stroke patients in the study sample had severe hand function impairment. A clear correlation was observed: the more severe the hand function impairment, the greater the dependence in activities of daily living. Approximately 48% of patients with hand function impairment were classified as having severe dependence. These findings confirm that hand function impairment has a significant impact on the independence of stroke patients.
Conclusion: Hand function impairment is directly and strongly associated with activities of daily living. The greater the impairment in hand function, the more seriously daily activities are affected, resulting in a higher level of dependence.
