Objective: To evaluate the immunostimulatory effects of Ngoc binh phong tablets supplemented with Xuyen tam lien in cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppressed mice.
Methods: 50 Swiss white mice were randomly divided into 5 groups of 10: normal control, model control, positive control (levamisole), and 2 treatment groups receiving Ngoc binh phong tablets supplemented with Xuyen tam lien at doses of 7.56 g/kg/day and 22.68 g/kg/day. Immunosuppression was induced by intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (200 mg/kg). Outcomes were assessed based on immune organ weights, histopathological changes in the spleen and thymus, peripheral leukocyte counts, delayed-type hypersensitivity response, and serum immune markers (IL-4, TNF-α, IgG, IFN-β, IFN-γ).
Results: The formulation showed a tendency to restore immune function, as evidenced by improved histological structure of the spleen and thymus, increased relative spleen weight, and enhanced delayed-type hypersensitivity response. Notably, the dose of 7.56 g/kg/day significantly increased IFN-γ levels compared to the model group (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Ngoc binh phong tablets supplemented with Xuyen tam lien demonstrated immunostimulatory and immunorestorative effects in the experimental model.
