NEED FOR SOCIAL WORK SERVICES AMONG INPATIENTS AT HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN 2025-2026

Abstract

Objective: To assess the need for social work services among inpatients at Hanoi Medical University Hospital in 2025-2026.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 369 inpatients aged 18 years and older. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS version 20.0.

Results: Inpatients reported a high need for social work services. The highest demand was for counseling on warning signs requiring follow-up care and appointment reminders, reported by 85.4% of participants. Needs for administrative procedure guidance and treatment cost counseling were both reported by 77.5%. In addition, 74.5% of patients required financial support for hospital fee payment, and 70.5% needed support for rehabilitation services.

Conclusion: The need for social work services among inpatients was substantial, highlighting the importance of developing a comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care model.
