Introduction: The study aims to describe service quality in inpatient care at Bac Lieu District General Hospital.
Methods: We used a cross-sectional design (mixed-methods, using quantitative and qualitative surveys). The study was conducted in the three clinical faculties. The quantitative survey was done using self-administered interviews with 185 inpatients. The SERVPERF tool was applied.
Results: Quality of service is assessed as good, with an average score of 4.15 points and a rate of good or higher evaluations of 77.8%. All 5 aspects have average service quality over 4.02 points. The two aspects with the lowest points were reliability (4.24 points, with 80% rating good or higher) and responsiveness (4.19 points, with 81.6% rating good or higher). The remaining three aspects were higher-rated: tangible means (4.02 points with 77.3% ratings of good or higher), assurance (4.12 points with 81.7% ratings of good or higher), and empathy (4.18 points with 82.1% ratings of good or higher).
Conclusions: Research results show an average rate of good or higher evaluation of service quality. We also suggest strengthening policies for medical equipment and human resources, applying information technology and supervising inpatient sẻvices
