Objective: Describe some clinical and paraclinical characteristics of mandibular molars with irreversible pulpitis and endodontic treatment indicated.
Research subjects and methods: 45 mandibular molars with irreversible pulpitis and endodontic treatment indicated were included in an uncontrolled clinical intervention study.
Research results: Morphological characteristics of root canals: out of a total of 140 root canals, there were 66.43% straight canals, 25.71% curved canals and 7.86% curved and narrow canals. The number of teeth with 3 root canals accounts for the highest rate at 60%, followed by 4 root canals at 26.67%; 2 root canals 11.11% and 1 root canal 2.22%. Most of the teeth studied have 2 roots. There were only 2 cases of 3 roots in RHL1HD and 3 cases of 1 root in RHL2HD.
Conclusion: The anatomical characteristics of the lower molars are quite complex, a thorough understanding of the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of this group of teeth greatly contributes to the effectiveness of endodontic treatment in clinical practice.
