Objective: To characterize patients with atrial fibrillation treated with radiofrequency ablation and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care at the Cardiovascular Institute, Hospital 19-8.
Subjects and methods: From December 2025 to June 2026, a study was conducted on 10 cases of atrial fibrillation treated with radiofrequency ablation using a three-dimensional anatomical-electrological mapping system of the heart chambers. Patients were assessed for clinical parameters before intervention, received basic explanations from nurses about arrhythmias and their treatment, preventive measures and warning signs, and were instructed on how to self-monitor radial pulse, monitor heart rate after the procedure, and the length of hospital stay after the procedure.
Results: The 10 patients had an average age of 53.8 ± 14.6 years, including 9 males (90%) and 1 female (10%). The success rate was 100%. The rate of patients maintaining sinus rhythm after the procedure was 100%. There was a improvement in heart rate between the time before the procedure and the time of discharge. Patients discharged showed satisfaction and good awareness of the post-procedure self-monitoring process.
Discussion and Conclusion: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) therapy for atrial fibrillation using a 3D anatomical-electrological mapping system of the heart chambers has a high technical success rate. Post-procedure heart rate monitoring is valuable in evaluating the effectiveness of the procedure. Enhanced counseling, disease explanation, and provision of basic skills in monitoring and evaluating the patient's condition contribute to improved treatment effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
