Objective: To assess the knowledge of mothers regarding newborn care at the Department of Obstetrics, 19-8 Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted using a pre-designed structured questionnaire. Data were collected through direct interviews with mothers who delivered at the Department of Obstetrics from February 2025 to August 2025. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the data.Results: Among the respondents, 75.8% of mothers had adequate knowledge of newborn care. The lowest level of knowledge was related to recognizing signs that indicate the baby is feeding adequately (40.0%), while the highest was about actions to take when the baby cries (99.2%). The main sources of information on newborn care were healthcare workers (65.8%) and social media (31.7%). Knowledge was identified as the most important factor influencing newborn care, accounting for 77.5%. Conclusion:
The overall knowledge of mothers regarding newborn care remains insufficient. Strengthening health education and counseling activities for mothers is essential. Recommendation: It is recommended to diversify and update health communication strategies, emphasizing the role of healthcare professionals in providing accurate and timely guidance to mothers.
