DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A FUNCTION-BASED MULTIDISCIPLINARY REHABILITATION MODEL FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT RECONSTRUCTION: PRELIMINARY RESULTS AT HOSPITAL 199

Abstract

Objective: To preliminarily evaluate the feasibility of a function-based multidisciplinary rehabilitation model for patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Methods: A descriptive case series was conducted involving 521 patients who underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction at Hospital 199 in 2025. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation model was implemented continuously from the preoperative through the postoperative period. Evaluation indicators included the implementation of preoperative care components, preoperative rehabilitation screening and rehabilitation, achievement of surgical readiness criteria, early postoperative rehabilitation, and the use of multimodal analgesia.

Results: Among the 521 patients, 521/521 (100%) underwent pre-anesthetic assessment and cardiovascular risk evaluation, 475/521 (91.2%) received nutritional counseling, and 484/521 (92.9%) underwent preoperative rehabilitation screening. Among the 484 patients who were screened, 194/484 (40.1%) met the functional criteria for immediate surgery, whereas 290/484 (59.9%) required preoperative rehabilitation. After the initial course of preoperative rehabilitation, 254/290 patients (87.6%) met the surgical readiness criteria. Postoperatively, 521/521 patients (100%) received nutritional counseling and early rehabilitation within 24 hours after surgery, while 487/521 (93.5%) received multimodal analgesia.

Conclusion: The multidisciplinary rehabilitation model demonstrated high feasibility in clinical practice and contributed to the standardization of care and treatment processes
