OUTCOMES OF FLEXIBLE URETEROSCOPY LITHOTRIPSY FOR RENAL STONES AT 19-8 HOSPITAL, MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of flexible ureteroscopy lithotripsy for renal stone treatment at 19-8 Hospital, Ministry of Public Security, focusing on stone characteristics, stone-free rate, and procedural safety.

Materials and Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 145 patients diagnosed with renal stones who underwent flexible ureteroscopy lithotripsy from January to December 2025. Clinical characteristics, stone-free rates, and postoperative complications were analyzed.

Results: A total of 145 patients were included, with 63.4% males and 36.6% females. The mean age was 52.6 ± 12.8 years. The mean stone size was 17.8 ± 6.2 mm. The mean operative time was 68.2 ± 24.5 minutes. The stone-free rates at postoperative day 1 and at 1 month were 79.3% and 85.5%, respectively. The complication rate was 8.3%, mostly mild (Clavien–Dindo grade I–II). ROC analysis demonstrated that the infundibulopelvic angle (IPA) had a high predictive value (AUC = 0.94), while lower calyx length showed moderate predictive value (AUC = 0.80).

Conclusion: Flexible ureteroscopy lithotripsy is a minimally invasive, effective, and safe treatment for renal stones. Anatomical factors such as IPA may serve as important predictors for treatment outcomes and assist in clinical decision-making.
