Objective: To evaluate outcomes of mucosa-preserving endoscopic inferior turbinoplasty for chronic hypertrophic rhinitis at 19-8 Hospital, Ministry of Public Security.
Methods: A descriptive case series included 35 patients undergoing surgery from May 2022 to May 2026. Symptoms, endoscopic inferior turbinate hypertrophy grade, operative time, complications, and nasal-obstruction VAS were assessed preoperatively and at 4 and 8 weeks. Complete data were available for all 35 patients at these analyzed time points.
Results: Mean age was 29.27 ± 6.15 years; 24/35 patients were male. Nasal obstruction occurred in 31/35 (88.6%), and grade 3 hypertrophy in 25/35 (71.4%). Mean operative time was 15.45 ± 4.21 minutes. At 8 weeks, 33/35 patients (94.3%) had a good overall outcome and 2/35 (5.7%) had a moderate outcome. Early events comprised mild bleeding in 2/35 (5.7%), edema in 1/35 (2.9%), and crusting in 1/35 (2.9%); no synechiae or nasal dryness were recorded. At 8 weeks, 33/35 (94.3%) reported no obstruction and 2/35 (5.7%) mild obstruction.
Conclusion: Mucosa-preserving endoscopic inferior turbinoplasty was associated with marked short-term symptomatic improvement, a short operative time, and few early complications. Longer follow-up is required to assess recurrence.
