Objective: To evaluate outcomes of intertrochanteric femoral fracture fixation using Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS).
Methods: Prospective descriptive case series of 25 patients treated with DHS at Hospital 1A (Jan 2020–Sep 2022). Baseline variables (age, sex, mechanism, AO classification, comorbidities, osteoporosis) and outcomes (neck–shaft angle, union, anemia/transfusion, length of stay, Harris Hip Score—HHS) were collected.
Results: Mean age 77.6 years (range 53–98); females 56%. Domestic falls 80%. AO: A1 64%, A2 36%. Anemia: mild 60%, moderate 40%; 56% required transfusion. Mean hospital stay 14.88 days (7–28). Union rate 96% (24/25); 64% restored neck–shaft angle 125°–130°, 32% 110°–125°; one nonunion due to cut-out/implant failure. HHS: excellent 28%, good 56%, fair 12%, poor 4%.
Conclusion: DHS fixation for stable intertrochanteric femur fractures (A1, A2) in elderly patients demonstrated a high bone healing rate in this case series.
