Background: In the context of increasing institutional autonomy and educational reform, assessing the current status of human resources is essential to clarify the appropriateness of the existing workforce structure, thereby providing a basis for proposing effective management solutions and improving training quality.
Objective: To describe the current status of human resources at Dong Thap Medical College in 2025.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study.
Results: In 2025, the human resources of Dong Thap Medical College comprised 163 staff members and employees, with a relatively balanced gender structure (57.1% female), a mean age of 40.1 ± 7.1 years, and the majority having more than 10 years of work experience (75.5%). Human resources were fairly reasonably distributed between academic departments (54.6%) and functional offices (45.4%). Lecturers accounted for 57.7%, managerial staff 25.2%, and administrative staff 17.1%. The professional composition was diverse, with nursing (19.0%), pharmacy (14.7%), medicine (12.9%), and public health (8.0%) representing the major disciplines. However, the distribution across specialties was not yet balanced, and shortages remained in several fields.
Conclusion: Following the merger, the college’s human resources were relatively stable, reasonably allocated, and experienced. However, the professional structure was not yet balanced and should continue to be adjusted to meet training requirements.
