Abstract

Background: Communication and professional conduct among healthcare workers has increasingly become a priority in healthcare settings. Effective communication plays a crucial role in ensuring service quality, enhancing patient satisfaction, and building a professional and patient-centered hospital image.

Objectives: Describe the current situation of communication and behavioral culture among healthcare workers at Tien Giang General Hospital in 2026.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study

Results: The proportion of healthcare workers adhering to appropriate communication and professional conduct standards was 91.6%. All identified instances of non-compliance were documented and addressed through the facility’s internal monitoring process. Patient satisfaction with healthcare workers’ communication and service attitude was 93.8% following the implementation of improvement measures. Several factors were associated with suboptimal communication practices, notably high workload, which significantly increased the likelihood of inappropriate communication behaviors ((OR = 4,75; 95% Cl: 2,10-10,73; p = 0,001) compared with the normal workload group.

Conclusions: In 2026, the implementation of interventions to enhance communication and professional conduct at Tien Giang General Hospital met the required standards according to the established survey criteria. Healthcare workers showed good awareness and practice of communication standards, with appropriate task allocation and effective collaboration in patient care. However, further efforts are needed to control influencing factors such as workload pressure and to strengthen supervision and training activities in order to further improve communication quality and patient satisfaction.
