Objective: The study aims to determine the compliance rate with the interdepartmental patient handover form at Children’s Hospital 2 and the factors influencing compliance with these forms from January 2025 to June 2025.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on interdepartmental patient transfer cases at Children’s Hospital 2 from January to June in 2025.
Results: The study included 424 interdepartmental patient transfers. The compliance rate with the patient transfer handover form at Children’s Hospital 2 in 2025 was 98.11%. The compliance rates among physicians and nurses were 95.52% and 96.93%, respectively. The rate of safe patient transfer was 99.67%. The proportion of patients who were examined within ≤15 minutes prior to transfer was 47.64%. In addition, intensive care and service departments demonstrated significantly higher compliance with the patient transfer handover form compared with other departments (p < 0.05).
Conclusions: The compliance rate with the patient transfer handover form at the hospital was high (98.11%), contributing to patient safety during interdepartmental transfers. The rate of safe patient transfer at Children’s Hospital 2 was 99.67%. Maintaining adherence to the handover process, strengthening pre-transfer patient assessment, and promoting experience sharing among different departmental groups are necessary. The findings of this study provide a basis for the hospital to further improve the handover process and enhance patient safety.
