Objectives: To evaluate the result of monopolar transurethral resection of prostate for benign prostate hyperplasia in viet tiep friendship hospital facility no.02
Materials and methods: Retrospective study of 55 benign prostate hyperplasia cases, which are treated by monopolar transurethral resection of prostate in viet tiep friendship hospital facility no.02 from January, 2025 to June 2026.
Result: Mean age is 71.04 ± 9.10. 37 cases have comorbid condition (67.27%), the most prevalent comorbid disease is hypertension. 2 most prevalent signs are weak stream of urine (65.5%), dysuria (52.7%). 25.5% of cases has urinary retention. There are linear regression between prostate weight and operating time, blood loss. Mean foley catheter time is 3.75 ± 0.61 days. IPSS and QoL improvement after 1 month (p<0.01).
Conclusion: Monopolar transurethral resection of prostate for benign prostate hyperplasia is a safe method, low complication rate, effective in improve IPSS and QoL
