INPATIENT TREATMENT COSTS OF PATIENTS WITH TUBERCULOSIS AT BAC GIANG LUNG HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the inpatient treatment costs and cost structure of patients with Tuberculosis (DR-TB) at the  Bac Giang Lung Hospital in 2024.

Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study using retrospective data from medical records and hospital invoices of inpatients in 2024. The total number of inpatients with TB in this study was 405 patients. Descriptive analysis using mean, min, max and percentage was used to analyse the direct medical cost of TB patients

Results: The average total treatment cost was VND 8.514.000. The highest cost were hospital bed-days (67.63%), drug cost (15.09%), and laboratory testing (12.67%). Conclusion: The treatment cost of Tuberculosis is considerably high, particularly due to the expenses for hospital stays and drug
