Abstract

Objective: To assess nurses’ beliefs on the application of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) in clinical practice and to identify associated factors in a hospital in Hanoi.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 82 nurses in a hospital in Hanoi. Beliefs about EBM were measured using the Evidence-Based Practice Beliefs (EBMB) scale. Associated factors were examined using statistical tests and multivariable linear regression.

Results: The mean EBMB was 59.16 ± 9.00. Subscale scores included knowledge (18.16 ± 3.19), value (20.24 ± 2.73), resources (14.13 ± 2.66), and difficulty/time (5.38 ± 1.73). Age, years of experience, educational level, English reading ability, job position, prior exposure to EBM, and previous EBM training were statistically significant factors. The multivariable regression model explained 61.3% of the variance in belief scores.

Conclusion: Nurses’ EBMB was 59.16 ± 9.00. Educational level, English reading ability, and previous EBM training were statistically significant predictors in the regression model.
