A STUDY ON THE ASSESSMENT OF PATIENT SAFETY CULTURE OF HEALTH WORKERS IN THAI BINH PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL IN 2019

Abstract

Objective: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in medical staff at Thai Binh
Pediatric Hospital in 2019 to describe patient safety culture among health workers.
Method: This is a cross-sectional survey on 273 health workers who have worked in clinical
and subclinical departments of the hospital for at least 6 months by the time of the study.
The research was employed at Thai Binh Pediatric Hospital from November 2019 to March
2020. The standardized questionnaire which measures 12 patient safety composites was used
for quantitative data collection.
Results: The rate of positive response to patient safety culture of health workers is 80,1%.
The lowest positive response rate toward patient safety culture was Communication openness
(59%) and the highest positive response rate was Teamwork within department (96,2%). The
health staff characteristics are important factors that influence patient safety culture.
