Objective: Identify some factors related to the quality of life of children with Graves’
disease.
Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study, total of 80 children with Basedow
from 8 to 18 years old were diagnosed, treated and monitored at the National Hospital of
Endocrinology from July 2020 to June 2021, and were assessed the health-related quality of
life by the scale PedsQLTM 4.0.
Results: Assessing self-reported health-related quality of life scores by children with Graves’
disease (8-18 years old) in the areas of physical, emotional, social relationships, learning and
general quality of life using the PedsQLTM 4.0 scale and find the relationship between quality
of life scores related to health and a number of factors such as: age, sex, time of disease
follow-up and disease manifestations. Research results show that a number of factors that
reduce the quality of life related to the health of children with Graves disease include: age
group from 13-18 years old, children with Graves’ disease are male, have a long follow-up
time for the disease longer than 24 months and children showed protrusion compared with
the control group.
Conclusion: Some factors that reduce health-related quality of life in children with Graves’
disease such as: older children age, male gender, prolonged follow-up time, and children
with Graves’ disease have protruding eyes.
