CLINICAL, PARACLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF NEONATAL PNEUMONIA AND RESULT OF ITS TREATMENT IN THAI BINH PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical, paraclinical characteristics and treatment results of neonatal
pneumonia at the Neonatal Department of Thai Binh Pediatric Hospital from November 2019 to
October 2020.
Object and method: Retrospective and prospective description, convenience sampling on 257
patients with pneumonia at the neonatal department of Thai Binh Pediatric Hospital.
Result: The rate of hospitalized infants with pneumonia aged > 7 days old was 77.4%, Pneumonia
patients were seen in males (63.8%), pneumonia infants had major clinical manifestations: cough,
difficulty breathing, rales in the lungs, The rate of patients with pneumonia infected with RSV (+)
is 26.8%, pneumonia with RSV (-) accounts for 73.2%, The average time to breathe oxygen is
4.31 ± 1.12 days, Average CPAP breathing time is 2.13 ± 1.24 days, Average hospital stay is 9.48
± 1.46 days.
Conclusion: Neonatal pneumonia with major clinical manifestations: cough, dyspnea, rales in the
lungs, the rate of pneumonia patients infected with RSV (+) was 26.8%.
