Bronchial mucus plug is a rare airway disease that is caused by abnormal airway mucus making
it thicker than normal and forming a mold in the airways blocking the airways causing atelectasis
and recurrent infections of the airways, the disease can occur in special locations such as:
immunodeficiency, bronchial asthma... Clinical manifestations are prolonged airway inflammation,
on chest X-ray is atelectasis images. In this patient, it was just a simple mucus plug, but sometimes
the airway mucus plug is a symptom associated with other rare diseases such as: Plastic bronchitis,
Aspergillus bronchopneumonia, Hyper-IgE Syndromes, Lipoid pneumonia , chronic eosinophilic
pneumonia. In this article, we describe a case of bronchial mucus plug detected at Thai Binh Pediatric
Hospital to contribute to sharing experience in the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology.
