A SURVEY OF USING ANTIBIOTICS IN OUTPATIENT TREATMENT COMMUNITY-ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA IN CHILDREN FROM 6 MONTHS TO 5 YEARS OLD AT MILITARY HOSPITAL BAC LIEU IN 2020

Abstract

Pneumonia is a major cause of hospitalization and death in children with acutely respiratory
infections. Children under 5 years old, especially those under 2 months old are subjects who take
the highest risk of illness and death from pneumonia. Bacteria are the most common cause of the
disease. Therefore, antibiotics play an important and indispensable role in treatment to reduce the
mortality rate of pneumonia. The analyses and assessments of the current situations about antibiotic
are extremely necessary, helping clinicians and managers to formulate and implement strategies for
safe and rational usage of antibiotics. At the same time, they are also to improve the effectiveness
of community-acquired pneumonia treatment for children. In the study, there were 63 children with
pneumonia, including 37 (58.73%) boys and 26 (41.27%) girls. Children with the age of 6-12 months
suffer from the illness the most 25 (39.68%), the group 48-60 months come down with the disease the
least 4 (6.35%). The rate of children diagnosed with code J18 (pneumonia, non-specific agent) was
the highest at 28 (44.44%). Children with pneumonia were hospitalized mainly in February (31.75%).
The group of antibiotics used for treatment is the Beta-lactam group, Amoxicillin/clavuclanic acid is
the most prescribed antibiotic 55 (87.3%). This antibiotic has 4 brand names, in which Klamentin is
used the most 27 (42.86%). The origin of antibiotics is mainly from Vietnam. The antibiotics used
are 100% oral. Antibiotic in sachets accounts for the highest percentage (68.25%).
