Objectives: To describe the characteristics of hypertensive patients with accompanied dyslipidemia
at An Phuc General Clinic - Ho Chi Minh City.
Subjects and methods: Prospective cohort study on 120 patients diagnosed and treated for
hypertension at An Phuc General Clinic with primary dyslipidemia.
Results: The proportion of male patients was 52.5%. The mean age of patients was 62.17 ± 9.38
years old. The majority of patients had grade I (42.50%) and grade II (48.33%) hypertension. Patients
achieved target blood pressure accounted for 65.83%. Patients with dyslipidemia in 4 forms: increased
serum TG (50.83%), increased total cholesterol (42.50%); increased LDL-c (36.67%) and decreased
HDL-c (27.50%). There were 5% of patients in the very high cardiovascular risk group, 19.17% of
patients with high cardiovascular risk. There were 47.5% of patients in the low cardiovascular risk
group.
Conclusion: The majority of patients have grade I and grade II hypertension. Patients with
dyslipidemia in 4 forms: increased serum TG (50.83%), increased total cholesterol (42.50%);
increased LDL-c (36.67%) and decreased HDL-c (27.50%). The majority of patients were in the low
cardiovascular risk group.
