CURRENT STATUS AND TRAINING NEEDS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF STUDENTS GRADUATING FROM HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY AND SOME RELATED FACTORS IN 2020-2021

Abstract

A cross-sectional study on medical students graduating from Hanoi Medical University. Research results show the average score of the total research skills is 3,10 ± 0,56 on a scale of 5. The average score of the skill "Data analysis and use analysis tools" is the lowest (2,94 ±0,65). In particular, the average score of this skill in the graduation group in 2020 (2,99 ± 0,60) is higher than that of the group graduating in 2008-2019 (2,90 ± 0,69). The need to increase practice training in the graduation group in 2008-2019 (38%) is higher than that of the group graduating in 2020 (17,39%). The percentage of the demand for "encourage students to conduct and publish scientific articles" in the graduation group in 2008-2019 (31,32%) is lower than that of the group graduating in 2020 (38,26%). The above differences are statistically significant with p<0,05. The most chosen training method and evaluation form are "more guidance and cooperation from lecturers" (60,93%) and "practice a research topic in groups" (76,01%) respectively. Gender, year of graduation, science products, and the levels of supervisor’s participation are some factors related to the average score of research skills.
