Abstract

Objectives: To analysis factors associated with the clinical indication for integrating traditional and modern medicine in the treatment of sleep disorders.

Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 902 medical records of patients diagnosed with sleep disorders who received. At leat one modality of traditional medicine or modern medical treatment at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh city - branch 3 and the Ho Chi Minh city Traditional Medicine Hospital from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.

Results: The study sample included 902 medical records with a median age of 58 (range: 46-66) years, and 67.5% were female. Factors associated with the integration of traditional and modern medical approaches included urban residence (OR = 8.956; 95%CI = 2.5-31.836; p = 0.001) and musculoskeletal diseases (OR = 4.717; 95%CI = 1.026-21.7; p = 0.046).

Conclusion: The integration of traditional and modern medicine treatments may be influenced by patients’ place of residence and the presence of musculoskeletal conditions.
