Objectives: Study on the acute and subchronic toxicity of granules of CDN.
Research methods: Define LD50 of granules of CDN in the mice by Litchfield - Wilcoxon method. Subchronic toxicity CDN was been given orally to white rat with the daily dose of 5.25 g/kg body weight (equivalent to the therapeutic dose in humans) and 15.75 g/kg body weight (three times the therapeutic dose) continuously 28 day period. The measurements of the liver, kidney and blood were followed before and after the trial.
Results: There was no mice died during 72 hours and there was no toxic signs observed in the mice after 7 days observed. LD50 can not be defined in the mice. No signs of toxicity were observed in the hematopoietic system, liver function, or renal function with the daily dose 5.25 g/kg body weight (equivalent to the therapeutic dose in humans) and 15.75 g/kg body weight (three times the therapeutic dose) in white rat.
Conclusion: CDN granules showed no acute or subchronic toxicity in experimental animals.
