Objective: Description of characteristics of patients with periarthritis of the shoulder treated at Tue Tinh Hospital in 2024.
Method: Analytical cross-sectional study. Convenience sampling was used to collect all patients diagnosed with periarthritis of the shoulder during the study times.
Results: Periarthritis of the shoulder is more common in women (67.1%), the most common age group is 50-69 years old (72.9%), most cases are on one side (84.7%), the disease usually lasts 3-6 weeks (41.2%). The pain level according with VAS scale 68.2% is mild. Common injuries are: biceps tenosynovitis (76.5%), supraspinatus tendinitis (54.1%), acromion bursa effusion (67.1%). Common clinical forms are: simple form (78.8%), frozen form (11.8%). Disease forms according with traditional medicine: cold and humid (45.9%), kidney and liver deficiency combined with cold and humid (37.6%).
Conclusion: Periarthritis of the shoulder is usually unilateral, occurring more often in middle-aged women. The common forms of the disease are simple and cold-humid according with traditional medicine.
