Objective: This study aims to assess the status of solid medical waste management at Hai Duong Rehabilitation Hospital in 2024.
Methods: The study used a cross-sectional descriptive design, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, with a sample size of 17 departments.
Results: The total amount of medical waste generated in 2024 was 404,747.4 kg, averaging 1,105.9 kg/day, of which 98.62% was general waste, 1.37% was infectious waste, and 0.01% was hazardous non-infectious waste. Waste classification compliance reached 100%. However, 64.7% of waste bags/containers were not sealed properly, 100% of waste bags lacked department identification labels, and storage areas did not have separate compartments.
Conclusion: Although the hospital has largely complied with medical waste management regulations, some shortcomings need to be addressed. Enhancing storage systems, labeling waste sources, and improving collection control are essential measures to improve medical waste management efficiency.
